The Principal and Fellows of Brasenose College cordially invite you to meet Professor Alan Bowman and his wife Jackie, at Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, near the Metropolitan Museum, New York on Wednesday 27th April 2011.
Professor Alan Bowman FBA FSA, is the Camden Professor Emeritus of Ancient History, the Director of the Centre for the Study of Ancient Documents and the Acting Principal of Brasenose College. This is a special occasion in a special place, the evening starts with an opportunity to see an exhibition entitled Nubia: Ancient Kingdoms of Africa, from 5.30pm, followed by a talk by Professor Bowman from 6 to 6.30pm on "Boom and Bust" in the Roman Empire. We then adjourn to the beautiful panelled library for an elegant dinner, a rare opportunity by kind permission of Professor Roger Bagnall, Director of the Centre and our special guest at dinner.
Come and hear the very latest College news and meet old friends in wonderful surroundings. We would be happy to help you form friendship groups and perhaps have your own table, just email the office.
